We stopped in Vienna for two days then flew to Rwanda via Istanbul.  It was New Year’s Eve and we could see fireworks below us as we passed over Cairo.  As we approached Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, man-made fireworks gave way to Mother Nature’s.  Huge bolts of lightning electrified the night skies.  Below us, there was little to see.  Most cities in Rwanda outside of Kigali do not have electricity and consequently disappear into the blackness of night.  Rwanda is one of the poorest countries in the world.
