HELLO. We are Chris and Mandy and we are travelling around the world. Nice to meet you.
Actually, right now as I type, it’s just me (Chris) since I’ve been chosen to be the main author of our blog. Despite my lack of social media credentials, Mandy unanimously elected me as Primary Blogger. So, Hi.
Where was I? Oh yeah, we are travelling-the-world, for whatever that’s worth. According to Mandy that means, we HAVE to have a blog, just like you HAVE to have a passport. Fair enough, despite my lack of blogging qualifications, we’ve definitely gleaned plenty of useful information from other travelers’ blogs, so time to pay it forward, plus hopefully it’s a nice way of keeping in touch while we’re away.
To give you a bit more background (if you don’t already know us), Mandy and I met in medical school and since then have been travelling together in what little time our schedules allow (including Mandy’s first trips out of the United States/United States of Spring Break Mexico). Currently, I am finishing up my neurology residency and Mandy is a pediatrician, having finished her residency last year. We are gapping our work/studies by one year after which I will start my Vascular Neurology Fellowship and Mandy will return to her pediatrics practice. We also found time to get married May 19, 2012, so we’re approaching this as our year-long honeymoon. With Mandy planning the intricate details of our trip and me along to play it cool when it all goes wrong, we pretty much have everything covered.
On June 29, 2012, we will leave the ‘burgh (Pittsburgh if you’re not in the know) behind and hop on a flight to Iceland. And we’ll see what happens from there…
***side note: blogging and traveling is/was actually much harder than anticipated. We travelled hard and life doesn’t stop so that you can write about it. After falling behind, falling behind further, and then even further, we are slowing wrapping this up retrospectively to capture our memories from the trip in writing.
